Every DiamondBack™ nozzle features a tip made from Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD)—a material engineered to dramatically extend nozzle life in demanding 3D printing applications. With extreme hardness, exceptional wear resistance, and outstanding thermal conductivity, PCD provides the durability and heat transfer needed for consistent, high-performance extrusion.
The diamond used in DiamondBack nozzles is composed of randomly oriented diamond particles fused together under high pressure and high temperature in the presence of a catalytic metal. Using our patented cubic press technology, these particles are sintered into a single, coherent diamond structure at pressures reaching 1 million PSI and temperatures exceeding 1200°C.
This sintered diamond structure delivers greater toughness and durability than single-crystal diamond. Because the diamond particles bond together in multiple orientations, the structure eliminates natural cleavage planes that can weaken traditional diamond crystals. The result is a highly resilient material that prevents crack propagation and maintains strength even in the most demanding environments.
